What happens at the Pumpkin Carving Competition?
You will be able to meet and talk to our fabulous carvers from all over New England and Jackson, New Hampshire. Watch as they create their displays and see first hand how they take 8 pumpkins and make them into themed displays of incredible art.
How long do they carve?
Carving starts on Friday at Noon Oct 18th and they continue working on their displays throughout Sat Oct 19th stopping at 7 PM. At 7 PM judging will take place and winners will be announced in the park immediately following their judging process. You will have the chance to purchase your favorite carved pumpkin from 7 PM until 8 PM on Saturday evening Oct 19th. Money raised offsets the expense of event. The Jackson Area chamber of Commerce also donates percentages of money raised throughout all their events to organizations such as Jen’s Friends, Veteran Organizations, Kennett High Key Club and more.
Is there anything else at the Carving Competition?
Kids are invited to decorate pumpkins and put them on display through the entire day Sat Oct 19th from 11 AM until 3 PM. Pumpkins and decorations will be supplied. Kids also can bring their decorated pumpkin in and enter it into the kids creations area. Which will be on display the entire day. Kids can pick up their entry and take it home any time after 7 PM that day. Any pumpkins entered and not picked up will be composted.
