SUMMARY:NH Sanctioned & Jackson Invitational Snow Sculpting Competition
DESCRIPTION:The 23rd New Hampshire Sanctioned & Jackson Invitational Snow Sculpting Competition!\nThe above photo is in memory of one of our beloved sculptors Dick Devellian who we honor this and ever year… Dick “until we meet again!”  The People’s Choice Award will now be called the Dick Devellian People’s Choice Award.  Dick’s talent and aura will forever be a part of this event. \nThis Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce event will be held at Great Glen Trails/Mt. Washington Auto Road again this year.  This fabulous location offers guests/visitors not only great cross country skiing\, tubing\, snow coach rides but creates an incredible background for the viewing of all our sculpting pieces.  Check back soon for lots more details as to all the fun that will go with this exciting new experience and venue.  This event may rotate venues as the years progress.   \nThe event begins on Friday January 26th at noon with teams from all over the Northeastern part of the United States. The team will sculpt throughout the weekend and finish at noon on Sunday January 28th\, 2024. Spectators are welcome to view the entire process but welcome to return on Sunday the 28th for the finished products. See first hand how our sculptors take 8 foot high by 4 foot round cylinder of compacted snow and create incredible art frozen in time.  This year we have 14 Teams with 4 NH Sanctioned Teams:  Team Hall/Orafant & Fraize Block #8\, Team Woodard & Woodard Block #3\, Team Antonopoulos Block #4\, Team Adams Block #14 and the Jackson Invitational Teams: Team Campbell/Lloyd/Pollard of CT Block #7\, Tam Chapin/Chapin with Jr. Sculptor Quinn Chapin of ME Block #1\, Team Conant & Amato of CT Block #12\, Team Dinsmore & Cooke of VT Block #6\, Team Shafner\, Shafner & Mallette of ME Block #10\,  Team Parsons of MA Block #13\, Tam Moore & Roncarati of ME Block #2\, Team Brett & Urquhart of ME Block #5\, Team Wark\, Mawhir & Hoag of ME Block #9 and Team Skorstad & Skorstad from VT Block # 11. \nSculpting pieces usually remain available for viewing for at least a week after the event giving visitors ample time to get coveted photos. Please be aware that weather is a factor and we can not guarantee how long the snow sculptures will remain. The sculptures will be lit at night for an entirely different perspective. \nBring the kids! \nThere will be scavenger hunts for the kids\, and other exciting things to do. Admission for viewing is free but donations are welcome. Please note that cross country ski passes\, snow coach rides\, tubing and other exciting outdoor activities that Great Glen Trails and the Mt. Washington Auto road offer are sold separately. Due to space availability and staffing concerns this year we are not able to invite the public to our dinner or awards banquet but will be sure to post winners information on our Facebook Page and press releases.  For updates please check back often.  If buying a ski ticket on Saturday or Sunday of the days of the event be sure you enter to win two special prizes valued at over $100 (one prize per day) just for skiers. \n
