SUMMARY:The Dave Rothstein Snow Sculpting Competition
DESCRIPTION:We are celebrating our 23rd year of hosting the Snow Sculpting Competition.  It all started when the Artist Dave Rothstein approached Bob Stevenson (Executive Director of the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce at the time) if Jackson would be interested in hosting a Snow Sculpting Competition?  Dave shared all his secrets about the Nationals and Internationals from his past experiences and created one of the most popular winter sports event that New Hampshire has to offer.  It saddens me to say that Dave Rothstein had recently passed away.  Anyone that knew Dave knew they had encountered a very unique\, kind\, peaceful\, knowledgeable soul that would not be forgotten.  Dave will live on in his creations\, his friendships and his family.  We honor Dave by naming his event:  The Dave Rothstein Snow Sculpting Competition. \nJoin us as approximately 12 teams sculpt cylinders made of compacted snow that stand eight feet high by four feet round into pieces of art frozen in time for all to see.  Sculpting starts on Friday afternoon and continues periodically throughout the weekend until noon on Sunday.  Stop and chat with the sculptors representing\, MA\, CT\, VT\, ME and NH.  Be sure to check out the “Dedication to Dave” table the sculptors have collectively put together honoring the friend who is there with us in spirit.  Let them share stories about Dave with you so you can help keep him around us as we get through this very difficult but much needed event. \nKid can join in the scavenger hunt which if free and offered on Saturday from Noon until 2 PM and again on Sunday from 11 AM until Noon. \nBe sure to vote for People’s Choice. \n  \n  \n
